College tuition fees are going up, but the economy is going down. How do college students and unemployed people survive their daily need for good food without emptying their wallets? Here are a list of great food items that won't break the bank.

There are many reasons Cereal should be on the top of this list. Here's a list of some of the reasons:

- hundreds of brands and varieties
- some are nutritious
- you can eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- they last a long time before they expire (sans the milk)
- the back of the box usually has good reading material to waste a few minutes of your time.
- some cereal brands come with prizes and toys.

These Taco Trucks have really delicious and greasy meals for cheap prices since they don't actually have to pay rent money for their parking in popular downtown areas. If you can deal with the possibility of your food not being prepared in the most sanitary conditions, give Taco Trucks a try. It's not like your dorm room is that much cleaner?

I don't know what they put in Spam, but like the mysterious content of hot dogs, I don't care care to know, Spam is delicious.

You can cook Spam in a variety of ways, but I generally like Spam cooked with onion and served with rice and a generous sprinkle of grounded black pepper.

In the states, Spam is sometimes associated with economic hardship, due to its relatively low cost. In Hawaii, however, Spam is so popular as a food item it is sometimes dubbed "The Hawaiian Steak".
One of the most popular plate is Spam musubi. A must try for spam lovers, Spam musubi, is made with cooked Spam and combined with rice and wrapped with nori seaweed. It's like a Spam sushi roll. It's good.
Hot Dogs plus an unlimited fountain drink for $1.50 and Combination Pizza at $10, Costco's food court is the place to go if you have a lot of mouths to feed and a limited budget. The food is very good for the amount you pay.

The Polish dogs are my favorite. Start by adding your favorite condiment (mustard, deli mustard, ketchup, onions, relish) and then sink your teeth into them. These dogs are nice and juicy, and their skin pop when you bite into them.
Ramen is one of the easiest and cheapest meals to "cook". With so many varieties of seasoning and an endless combination of things to add to your noodle soup (eggs, bean sprouts, green onions, meat...etc), Ramen can be found in nearly every college students kitchen.

The best Ramen has to be Mee Goreng. It's not a soup based Ramen, but instead, you cook it in hot water, then drain it and eat the noodle semi dry. Mee Goreng is a must try for noodle enthusiasts.

Have something to add to this list?
